The artist in me wants to spend
Practically the whole weekend
Painting, writing, sketching too
Creatung ever more things new.
Reality though often means
I’ve much to do behind the scenes;
Shopping, cleaning, cooking meals;
All that helps to oil the wheels
Within a home and keep the peace –
Work I know will never cease;
And so I can’t devote long hours
Top painting scenes or drawing flowers,
But as I have long-since found
They must be fitted in around
All the things that must be done,
If a home’s to be well-run.
