Modifying DNA

Sometimes defects can’t be known
Until a person’s fully grown;
So when altering DNA
No scientist can truly say
Everything is fine until
Many have been through the mill,
And when they died at eighty plus,
It seemed there was no need to fuss
About affects in all those who
Received components that were new.
But until then one must beware
Of dangers that could well be there;
For testing things on rats and mice
Which is the usual advice,
Doesn’t every time produce,
Exact results for human use.
