Sunday Mornings

Out of bed I slowly climb
At the usual weekday time,
Put on kettle and bread for toast,
They take five minutes at the most.
Just time enough for Morning Prayer
Before I have my breakfast fare.
A leisured bath and wash my hair,
Decide which outfit I will wear.
Get the Sunday paper next,
Briefly scan the front page text;
Off to Mass when I hear the bell,
A familiar sound I know so well.
Home again for Sunday lunch -
I don't go in for Sunday brunch.
After that what I like best
Is just to have a little rest.
