Greece's Problems

The Greeks have got a problem for they're running out of cash;
The banks are stopped from opening, for so many Greeks would dash
To empty all their bank accounts and keep their dosh instead,
Somewhere that is safer, such as underneath the bed.
For years they've lived the good life, and enjoyed what that entailed,
But they're being forced to realise that their generous state has failed
To keep the books in order and ensure they could afford
To pay for all the goodies without borrowing abroad.
But they didn't check their budgets and tax collecting was a joke,
Just borrowed without ceasing, so that now the country's broke.
But lenders want their interest and the capital returned,
That's the way of business as the Greeks have newly  learned.
And they haven't got the money for the lot of it's been spent
Providing all the benefits, which through the years were meant
To keep the people happy, feeling they were doing well,
Now knowing of the outcome, since that only time would tell.
And when at last the chickens came flying home to roost
They still thought all they needed was an economic boost.
But all that extra money didn't really help at all
The most that can be said is that it slightly helped to stall
The final day of reckoning, as the country slowly sank
Until the time there's literally no money in the bank
