It's Hard Buying Clothes when you're Little

It really sounds easy to go in a shop
And purchase a dress or a skirt or a top
From all of the styles hanging there on each rail;
You'd think it'd be almost unheard of to fail
To find something suitable in the right size;
If so, you might very soon get a surprise.
If you are quite tall with a willowy build
You'll find that the shops in the high street are filled
With beautiful clothes, cut in styles that you'll love,
Elegant, smart, which will fit like a glove.
But if you are short, then it's simply not true
That shops carry plenty of styles meant for you
Most of the skirts usually reach to mid-calf
Which if you are petite would make people laugh,
At how dowdy you looked, for they could all see
You need a design which ends just at the knee.
And if you like "V" necks you'll find all the time
That blouses that on the rail look so sublime
Are far too low cut for the petite to wear
Showing much more that most people would dare.
Jumpers and cardigans also can give
Annoyance to people who always must live
With the fact that they're petite, instead of being tall
And shops cater little for them, if at all.
With sleeves which so often are made far too long,
And obviously for the much taller belong.
Tights should be easy to buy if you're short
But often small sizes can only be bought.
In big shops, where sometimes you'll find for a change
They don't just sell large, instead stock a full range.
So if you're petite it's not easy to buy
The things that you want, but instead you must try,
Although on occasion it makes you feel stressed,
To seek out the items among all the rest
Which fit your small figure and make you look good,
Wearing the fashionable clothes that you should.
