The Leafleter

A bag on their arm and a pack in their hand
As off hey go to join the band
Of people who leaflet door to door,
Pushing ever more and more
Leaflets and cards through people's doors,
Giving a few of them ample cause
To make a fuss, for they've ignored,
The prominent sticker or inch wide board
Which clearly states they want no junk,
But being in a hurry, they've all of them sunk
To leaving their leaflets at every house,
Hoping that most will never grouse.
And if they do, well, they'll all agree
The notice was quite hard to see..
The bag can be heavy when first they start,
And this of course is quite apart
From the pile they're carrying, ready to drop
As with great speed they deftly hop
From house to house, near at a run,
In order to get the day's work done
In the shortest time they can -
Of dawdling they're definitely not a fan,
As someone not paid by the hour,
It is always in their power
To try and get the job done fast
Rather than trying to make it last
As long as they can, for they can stop
As soon as they've made the final drop.
The money for the young and fit
Can be good, though most soon quit
Moving to an easier way
To earn a decent weekly pay.
